Sony unveils social-focused PlayStation 4 - Yahoo! News


The Japanese electronics giant unveiled the new gaming system Wednesday, hyping the machine as a "supercharged PC" with the ability to effortlessly share interactive experiences, by instantly broadcasting video of gaming action or virtually handing out health potions to friends online.

PlayStation 4 games revealed: a preview of what's to come



As with any gaming console, good hardware only tells half of the story. Today, Sony announced a stable of games that'll play a large role in determining the early success of the PlayStation 4, which is set for availability this holiday season. Leading the charge will be biggies such as Killzone Shadow Fall, Bungie's next first-person shooter known as Destiny, Diablo III and a new installment of Final Fantasy.

Sony (SNE) unveiled its next-generation PlayStation 4 video game console on Wednesday evening, and the console looks impressive to say the least. Powered by an eight-core CPU, a powerful GPU and 8GB of RAM, Sony is calling its new PlayStation console “the evolution of gaming.” The PS4 is packed with power and a host of new social features, and Sony confirmed on Wednesday that it will launch the new console ahead of the holidays this year. No specific release date or pricing were announced.

PlayStation 4 launch vs. reality: Don't believe the hype - Destructoid

A new console generation. A new batch of tech demos that mislead consumer expectations. As perfectly evidenced by Gearbox's recent Aliens demo, savvy game enthusiasts don't take kindly to developers promising one thing and delivering another. The context and circumstances are much different with a hardware manufacturer (Sony) showing tech demos for new hardware, but the sentiment still stands.

Tonight Sony will be holding an event here in New York City called “PlayStation 2013,” known to the rest of the world as “the reveal of the PlayStation 4.” I expect we’ll be learning everything there is to know about the new-gen console, and I expect it will be awesome.

New Gamer Nation – NGN Predicts the PlayStation 4/Orbis Announcement


By now, everyone’s seen it (if not, here’s a link: Feb 20th 2013-PS4 Teaser). The gaming industry gasped in unison at a 45-second trailer that seemingly came out of nowhere, and with it, the next generation is now upon us. Without question, February 20th is the day Sony will unveil its next PlayStation console, and three of New Gamer Nation’s editors have come together to predict and try to make sense of what’s going to happen. Five Things to Look For During Sony's Playstation 4 Reveal Tonight - Forbes



Tonight’s the night. After releasing a cryptic trailer and inviting 1,200 people to a live event, Sony will finally reveal the “future of the Playstation” as promised. The show begins tonight at 6PM EST (3PM PST), and will be available to watch via livestream here for those of us who didn’t book a flight out to see the reveal in person.
